Filmed in Cleveland in 1983, we’ve all seen and cherish the family holiday classic movie A Christmas Story! With unforgettable characters like Ralphie & Flick, not to mention the Leg Lamp and Red Ryder BB Gun! For millions of people, it’s their all-time-favorite holiday movie that has both a national & international fan base! It also featured a local Cleveland Ohio house where "Ralphie" and the Parker family lived that has since become a treasured holiday landmark for countless millions of fans throughout the world! With over $350,000 invested to restore it to its movie glory, that same house used in the movie, is now open for tours while the house directly across the street and also shown in the movie, is the Official Movie Museum and Gift Shop.

Clevelands landmark skyscraper was completed in 1930 and was the second tallest building in the world at that time! In fact, it was the tallest building in the world outside of New York until 1967!

Leif Ericson Monument

Leif is considered to be the first european to establish a settlement in North America in 1000ad; some 500 years before Christopher Columbus!

U.S.S. Cod Museum is considered to be one of the finest remaining World War II submarines that is fully restored and waiting for your visit! (Its 5 large diesel engines were built back in Cleveland by GM too in 1942!)

Cleveland's RTATransportation Started with a single stagecoach in 1818 and later by rail in 1834-Now over 200,000 people use this service on a typical workday!

"FREE Stamp" in Willard Park was created by Claes Oldenburg for the Standard Oil/BP Building but after BP's take over of Sohio, they didn't want the sculpture and donated it to the city. Cleveland has an incredibly strong history in art as reflected by the Cleveland Museum of Art started in 1913!

Kamm's Corners named after Oswald Kamm date back to 1875 where Oswald started a general store and postal service on the corner of Lorain Avenue and Rocky River Drive. Click here for more info!


Great Lakes Science Center
One of the finest and most educational centers for kids of all ages in the Cleveland area and on the Great Lakes. Click here for more info!

Westside Market
The current building was finished in 1912: it sits across the street from the site of Cleveland's first open-air market, founded in 1840. The operators of the indvidual stalls are members of the West Side Market Tenant's Association, founded in 1915. Many of the current tenants are from families that have been part of the Association for 75 years or more. Click for more info.

The Civil War Monument
Located on Public Square and built in 1896, it's dedicated to the over 9,000 Cleveland area men who served and died in the Civil War

The Cleveland Browns first started play in 1946 but remain 1 of only 6 teams to have not played in the Super Bowl. But we all know that is about to change for the better as the Browns, with the help of the most loyal fans in the NFL (2006 formal study by Bizjournal released), will be heading there soon! The Cleveland Indians
and the formal start of open professional baseball in America, both date back to about 1865. First called the "Forest Cities", the Cleveland Indians are continuing to grow into an incredible team! To date, the Indians are credited with the biggest comeback in MLB history (The Impossile Return) as well as the worst defeat of the New York Yankees ever! BP or Standard Oil Building
Built in 1985, it's one of Cleveland's tallest buildings but cut short at the time of being built from becoming the largest because of Terminal Tower politics!

Interesting facts: After the Civil War, Cleveland became one of the 5 main oil refining centers in the U.S. and John D. Rockefeller, considered the first U.S. billionaire and the richest person ever in history, started Standard Oil of Ohio here in Cleveland in 1873!
